The Secret of Power

Here’s Today’s Devotional from The Vine..

He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. - Luke 9:1

The first thing is always to come to Christ Himself. We can do nothing until we have been to Him. Everything we do should be as if Jesus Himself instructed us to do it, and sent us on our way with His blessing. There is nothing too dangerous, no work too hard, no job too responsible, that can’t be done, if, from the outset, we have Christ’s hand of encouragement on our shoulder and his words of inspiration.

Christ alone can give power for the work He asks us to do. His followers are to have authority over demons. Any one who tries to cast out demons in his own strength, whether the demon be in himself of in someone else, will only meet miserable failure. A man may rule nations and conquer kingdoms, and yet be unable to rid himself of a demon. Alexander The Great conquered the world, but he was overthrown by the demons of appetite and passion. Men are forever foolishly trying to battle the evil of their own natures without help and they always fail in the struggle.

The same is true of power over demons in others. Once the disciples, in Christ’s absence, tried to cast out an evil spirit, and could not do it. Yet they ought to have been able in Christ’s name to cast out the demon. Jesus told them that the reason they could not do it was because they didn’t have faith. He wants every follower of his to have power over all forms of evil in this world; not miraculous power, such as he gave the apostles, but real power. If we have faith in Him, He will always give us power.

How To Overcome Addiction and Sin

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2 Corinthians 12:9

I met with a young couple awhile back who shared a beautiful story of how Jesus had broken the power of addiction in their lives. This young man had recently come to Christ and was an alcoholic. He shared, “The moment I came to Jesus Christ, He took away my desire to drink instantly!”

When Jesus was living on earth, He delivered people from demonic spirits and powers. And I want you to know I believe people are still possessed and enslaved by Satan today. But Jesus can set you free. You may have an addiction, but Jesus can perform the miracle of breaking the chains of sin and the power that binds your life.

Now, God may not work that dramatically in every situation. It may take some time for a person to grow. But let me tell you this: Jesus Christ can absolutely break any addiction that you have. He can perform a miracle in your life and set you free if you will believe and trust in Him. He does this because He loves you.

So whatever addiction or sinful pattern of behavior you are experiencing in your life today, trust in Jesus to set your free, believing that by His healing power, you can be restored to wholeness!

TRUST IN CHRIST TO SET YOU FREE FROM ADDICTION AND SIN BY HIS POWER!

Bible Verse of the Day

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:37-39

Disqualification….

That is one of the greatest tools the enemy tries to wield against us….

Getting us to somehow feel that we are disqualified in some way and in some form or fashion.

He uses things we have done or have failed to do to tell us that somehow we are less than the beloved daughters and sons of the Risen King.

He uses things that have been done to us or not done for us to tell us that we are not important and in some way we do not truly matter to anyone including God in our life.

Disqualification is the evil spirit that whispers to you “oh if people only knew this about you….” or “what made you think that this could be different…”  or “that you would be able to…”

Yep disqualification is a coat that we put on and wear as our identity that God comes after to strip away.

Have I used the word disqualification enough that it is sinking in?

Today, let your heart let go and believe who you are in God and that it is His love, grace and mercy that qualifies each of us.

Strip off that coat and live in this truth today…

Have a blessed day,
