God’s faithfulness is not performance-based. “If we believe not , yet he abideth faithful:” (2 Tim. 2:13) I’m thankful about that for sure! My response will be to Praise Him for His goodness, to Hope in Him, and to Wait on Him.
In 1916, Pastor Thomas Chisholm was relieved of his pastoral duties by his church – for having asthma and not preaching loudly enough. At 50 years old, He began traveling door to door on the dirt roads of Kentucky, selling brushing for a living. In a season of life when most would be discouraged, complain, or even quit, Thomas Chisholm did not. He praised God and pressed on. Seven years later, he penned a poem that has a sacred place in many churches today:Great is Thy Faithfulness.
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with thee,
Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not,
As thou has been, thou forever will be.Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!
